February 2017

February is my birthday month.

I started by craving some "Crepes Suzette" crepes with orange alcohol flambeed. I prepared them and was very satisfied, it was absolutely delicious. Then I had some celebrations at work, and a decadent hot chocolate, brioche and cake afternoon on the previous Friday. But this year I really limited the overeating because my "so called" best friends, Liliane and Vladimir, skipped my birthday totally. I was so hurt ! I am a so good friend, always celebrating, organizing and gifting my friends... So, I decided to cut my ties with them and take some distance.
My weight  is still in the upper 170s and I cannot believe I gained so much weight this Winter. Fortunately I had a conversation with my dance teacher and she told me she was following Dr Fuhrman diet. She advised me to buy his book "eat to live" and read what it is about, which I did (I bought 3 of them on Amazon for $30) and started to read.....

Well, it's a strict vegetarian diet, with lot of common sense. The 6 aggressive first weeks are very difficult I think but the reward is really loosing weight and re balancing health. I am conditioning myself to do it soon, while I am emptying my cabinets and eating the left crap I still have. But I already added a lot of fruits and vegetables to my current bad diet :) Going tomorrow for some grocery shopping of organic vegetables and fruits.
It's a strict diet with nothing else than green veggy, fruits, nuts and grains. No dressings, zero fat, zero sugar, zero carbs, zero animal proteins, zero drinks, zero caffeine. For me it's lacking some proteins and light dressings such as olive oil, tea, my morning coffee. So, I will probably adapt. In any case, a diet has to be adapted depending on the taste and preferences. For example, I don't like raw peppers and don't digest them and the starting weeks are full of raw peppers...And I can't eat a raw green salad without dressing at all ! So I plan using a spoon of olive oil in my salads, an olive oil spray to sauteed my vegetables too.
The diet is associated with intense exercise, one hour a day. I think I could increase mine to 4 or 5 days a week, but the body and muscles need to rest, so I don't believe in an every day exercising.
More over the diet is totally unsocial, meaning while you do it, you eat home all the time or with your Tupperware at work. No,  zero possibility of adapting anything, that I found not realizable long term. And 6 weeks is pretty long....
I will see how it goes. But on the deep principle, I agree that it could work well for me too.
I love a lot of greens, steamed vegetables, fruits, nuts and grains, so it should be ok.
